TEMPORARY/CONCERN SITES
- What are they?
Temporary Safety Camera sites are
locations that do not meet all the criteria for
a fixed camera but are specific areas that the
partnership are undertaking speed camera
enforcement for reasons that may include:
1. Public Concerm - when the local community
requests that the partnership enforce at a
particular site because high traffic speeds are
causing concern for road safety e.g. speeding
outside schools.
2. Collision Frequency - when a
site has a high number of personal injury
collisions (PIC) but an insufficient number of
killed or seriously injured (KSI) collisions to
meet the criteria for a fixed site.
3. Engineering - when roads do
not meet the minimum engineering requirements.
- Factors taken into account when
selecting a concern site:
Whilst assessing the viability of
a temporary site the LRSP will analyse and take
into consideration the following factors:
-
Average speed of motorists
-
85th% speed of vehicles
-
Percentage of vehicles
exceeding the speed limit
-
Volume of traffic
-
Number of collisions and
injuries
-
Proximity to schools
Assessment of these factors acts
as guidance only and should not be considered as
rules for site selection.
- Enforcement at concern sites:
Lincolnshire's
mobile camera unit is deployed to each temporary
site for four hours of every month. All sites
are monitored on a monthly basis and reviewed
every three months.
